It is climate decision time in BC -- will we keep our legal climate targets...or start a new fossil fuel industry that will wipe them out?
The proposed Pacific NW LNG project would single-handedly exceed BC's entire legislated 2050 carbon budget. According to Draft Assessment, the BC emissions from this project will be over 13 MtCO2/year and continue beyond 2050. That is 33% of our legal 2020 limit and 110% of our legal 2050 limit. And that doesn't include the far larger emissions from burning the stuff. Hard to find a more clear cut climate choice than this project: climate safety or fossil expansion. Can't have both. My chart shows the choice.
